My January: A Month of Beginnings, Boldness, and Becoming

January has always been my favourite month. Not just because it’s my birth month (the 17th, for the record), but because it carries something sacred for me: fresh starts, new beginnings, and possibility.

It’s the month that feels like a deep breath.

This year, though, I did January differently.

Instead of waiting for the year to begin before getting clear, I created my vision board on 31st December 2025. I wanted to enter 2026 already knowing what I was calling in. And this time, I didn’t stop at dreaming. I paired vision with intention; an action plan, timelines, calendar reminders, and even a hard look at possible blockers… plus how I’d deal with them when they showed up.

Clarity before momentum. Not the other way around.

And January wasted no time meeting me at that energy.

While the country was deep in election season, complete with an internet blackout; I was boarding a plane to South Africa to celebrate my birthday with friends. It felt symbolic: choosing joy, movement, and life in the middle of uncertainty.

One of the biggest highlights of that trip happened on my actual birthday. I walked with lions in Brits, South Africa. Alone. Not because I planned to, but because my friends opted out — and I chose not to cancel.

It became a milestone moment. A reminder that I don’t need company to experience life fully, that I don’t have to shrink, postpone, or dilute my joy just because no one is coming along. Sometimes the bravest thing is showing up for yourself anyway.

Another birthday twist? My dinner plans fell apart. What was meant to be in Johannesburg ended up in Durban. And honestly? It came together even more beautifully. It was my first time trying raw oysters and my first true fine dining experience; an unexpected highlight that reminded me (again) that sometimes things fall apart so they can reassemble into something better.

January also stretched me socially. I made new friends, pushed past my social anxiety, and lived with friends for ten straight days. A lot for someone who is an introvert often mistaken for an extrovert. It was uncomfortable. It was good. It built tolerance, depth, and understanding, especially of myself.

On quieter days, I finished the book I set out to read for January: Woman in the Eyes of God by Miria Matembe. It was deeply affirming. Through the stories of women in the Bible like Rebecca, Esther, Ruth, Rachel, Shiphrah and Puah, Jochebed, Miriam, Pharaoh’s daughter, Deborah, and Jael, I was reminded that women have always taken up space. They were brave, focused, risk-takers, and co-creators with God in shaping the world as we know it. Empowering doesn’t even begin to cover it.

I also slowed down enough to savour the moment; literally. During the trip, I visited three vineyards in Cape Town and did wine tasting at all of them, each with its own story, flavour, and pace. It felt grounding and indulgent in the best way. A reminder that life isn’t only about pushing limits and chasing milestones, but also about pausing, tasting, and fully being present in beautiful moments.

And then, as if January hadn’t already given enough; I asked a question. Half-jokingly. I met the pilots flying us home and asked if I could see the cockpit. They offered something better: “Let’s take off together.”

So I took off from Cape Town to Nairobi in the cockpit. I documented it. I lived it. A moment that will stay with me forever proof that closed mouths don’t get fed, and that asking (even playfully) can open unimaginable doors. As fate would have it, I later learned that one of the pilots was born on the exact same day as me.

January felt like an adventure  fitting, really, for my adventurous spirit.

After a 2025 filled with growth, unexpected pain, career twists that forced me to level up, and spaces that challenged me to expand, January 2026 arrived like a promise kept. I closed the month by officially starting the Journey to the Boardroom program — another milestone, another stretch, another yes to becoming.

So yes, January is my favourite month.

Not because it’s easy.
But because it reminds me that beginnings belong to those brave enough to choose them.

And this year? I chose boldly.

Heres a short Video recap of my January. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

With Love

One Minute south...

Uganda has some hidden treasures and we can always count on The Peal Guide Uganda to help us discover and explore them. This Easter was no exception as we embarked on what was titled the "intimania" experience. We started our "intimania" discovery by taking a boat cruise on the calming waters of the beautiful lake Victoria as we headed south to a little intimate haven on the Island of Bulago called 'One Minute South'.

We were to turn this island into our own country for the weekend. Nothing can prepare you for the warm welcome you receive at the Island with such serene beauty. Just the perfect spot for you to relax and unwind. Also, perfect for couples who want to get away from the busy and noisy Kampala just to catch a breath of fresh air.

The view is absolutely to die for. We had the times of our lives, thanks to Kella Gram silent Disco. A special S/O to Deejay Jo and Dj Simples for allowing me to get all up in their set and for accommodating my demands for Queen Sheba  and Ykeebender songs... You guys rock.. Also, special thanks to my forever travel partner lauryn and our team no sleep (yes we stayed up all night dancing and living it up till the sun came down). Nothing was going to stop us from having fun, all other issues aside. Here is a pictorial recap of the beauty that was One Minute South:

A day in paris

View of the Iffel tower
I know I've been somewhat of a stranger lately, always neglecting this blog *sigh* but I'm back. Its been crazy these past couple of weeks. I changed Jobs and as such I've been AWOL trying to get into my new schedule and settling in at my new job. New exciting things ahead. Anyhow, I promised I'd start sharing from my travel experiences and this post is one of those.  Oh Paris, what can I say and where do we start......

I have always wanted to go to Paris ever since I was a little girl hearing stories about it from dad. Something about his recollection of his time there made it one of my top 5 destinations to visit before I die. My top 5 include: New York, Amsterdam, Paris, Capetown, Venice. Out of these five, I've been to four and now I'm left with Venice. The city on water.....

Anyway back to Paris the city of love. So I eventually got the opportunity to embark on my Euro trip, late last year and it was life changing. My first stop was Amsterdam which I will write about later, and then my next stop was to Paris. I chose to take  a train from Amsterdam to Paris (4 hrs) because i really wanted to experience the country side and see what scenery it has to offer. Best decision ever!!!  I arrived at the Paris Du Nord Train station at about midday and my friend was waiting to pick me up. We went straight to the hotel to drop off my stuff and embark on the adventure. We couldn't check in to the hotel before midday but they were kind enough to keep my bags in storage till later. My hotel was right next to a couple of Cafe's and What better way to start the Paris experience than in a cafe munching on some Nutella crepes. After a light snack, I embarked on my adventures to discover and experience Paris in a day. Since my hotel was right next to the Louvre, We walked to the Musée du Louvre on Rue de Rivoli. For those who don't know, this is the museum that houses the Legendary Monalisa painting..... That's a story for another day though. After a tour of the museum, and actually getting to see (not touch) the Monalisa (I'll explain another time) I was off to the tour d'eiffel, also known as the Iffel tower. It is the most grande and picturesque tower you will ever see. Once I was done with taking pictures of the tower, I  hoped on the tour bus and headed straight to the Seine bridge where I crossed over to the  Musée d'orsey and after a long tour of this museum, I crossed over the bridge to and headed to the Notre Dame. I was able to do most of the activities on my my to checklist except go to the Moulin Rouge. But no worries, that will be for next time. I must say, there really is something in the air or Paris that just makes you fall in love; the food, the people, the language, the romantic music on the streets, its something else. Everything is romantic. Paris really did steal my heart and I hope to one day return and continue my adventures. Now take a sneak peek into the pictorials of  my Day in Paris Adventure below:

Travel Tips from this trip
  1. Take the train to travel to Paris if you're within Europe, Its cheaper and much more fun.
  2. Its cold Between November to March so carry warm clothing
  3. Buy the tickets for both train and entry to museums earlier online ( makes it even more cheap and faster to get around)
  4. Book the hotel online, its cheaper. (I used Hotels.com)
  5. Paris Must see sites: Notre Dame, The Louvre, The eiffel tower, Musee D'orsay, Seine bridge and the Moulin Rouge.
  6. While inside the Musee du Louvre, do endeavor to search for and find the Monalisa.

Happy travels

Murchison Falls, What a Beauty

Yes, I know it has been a while and I do apologize for disappearing. I have been Busy with life. It really has been a crazy couple of months. Lots of lessons and experiences to share. I have been out there experiencing what the world has to offer and although this post comes a few months late, I'm finally in a position where I can sit and reflect on what I've been up to.

I know I usually just write thoughts on this blog but I thought It was time we switched things up a notch. So from now on, I will not only be writing my thoughts but I will also be sharing my experiences through travel, food, fashion and everything Lifestyle. I hope you enjoy the new theme of the blog. Lets start this off with my visit to the Murchison falls.
I got a chance to travel and visit the Murchison/ Kabalega Falls during the Uganda travel month that was organised by The Pearl Guide Uganda. I must say we had an amazing time exploring the wild and camping at Nile Safari Lodge. I will be sharing Pictures of the falls as well as the adventures we got up to while there.

First off, what is Murchison falls? For those of you who don't know; Murchison Falls, also known as Kabalega Falls, is a waterfall between Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert on the White Nile River in UgandaSir Samuel and Florence Baker were the first Europeans to find them. Baker named them after Sir Roderick Murchison, president of the Royal Geographical SocietyDuring the regime of Idi Amin in the 1970s the name was changed to Kabarega Falls, after the Omukama (King) Kabarega of Bunyoro, although this was never legally promulgated. The name reverted to Murchison Falls following the downfall of Idi Amin. It is still sometimes referred to as Kabarega Falls. Now that we know the brief History about Murchison falls, Here is a pictorial of my visit to the beautiful Falls.
